Mary Lago, CFP®, CTFA, joined Goldman Shelby in 2015 and is principal of the firm and chair of the firm’s wealth management committee. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional (CFP®) and adheres to a disciplined approach and process to fully understand her clients’ goals and then provide the best financial and investment counsel. Mary is also a Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA) and has an extensive background in trust administration and asset protection. Mary serves individual and institutional clients concentrated in Portland, Medford, Seattle and Bend. In addition to leading the firm’s wealth management committee, she is a member of the firm’s management team and practice management committee.
As a certified trust and financial advisor with over 20 years of wealth management experience, Mary is a valued resource for individual and multigenerational family clients regarding investment, planning, and trust/estate matters. She also advises charitable organizations on endowment management and planned giving techniques.
Prior to joining the firm, she worked as a vice president and Oregon region manager for Washington Trust Bank in its wealth management and advisory services division. Mary previously worked for Union Bank and First Republic Bank in their private bank and trust divisions. She received her B.S. in business administration from Linfield College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Mary currently serves on the board of the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Foundation, the OHSU Nominating and Engagement Committee, the OHSU Gift Planning Committee and the OHSU Center for Ethics in Health Care Steering Committee. She is also Chair-Elect and board member for Albertina Kerr Centers Foundation. She recently concluded her term as president of the Estate Planning Council of Portland, and previously served as chair of Albertina Kerr Centers Foundation and co-chair of the Community Promise Campaign. She was recognized by the Portland Business Journal in 2013 as one of Portland’s “Forty Under 40” and in 2018 as a “Woman of Influence.” She was also awarded the Joyce Manougian Lifetime Achievement Award by Albertina Kerr Centers in 2019.
In her free time, Mary and her husband enjoy spending time with their daughter, water sports and cooking.
